Special Health Report :-
Sunscreen Dangers
As the summer approaches we may be planning our holidays and days out in the garden or whatever and the need to either cover up or slap on the "good old" sun-cream or spray.
In the last few years, we have been inundated with reports relating to the dangers of exposure to the sun, and the need to protect our skin in order not to develop cancer, through the use of sunscreens.
The companies making these products have seen a dramatic increase in their sales. But as the use of sunscreen and other products containing sunscreen have skyrocketed, there is evidence that the incidence of skin cancer in the U.S. has tripled in recent years. Are you surprised ?
Obviously concern about skin cancer is important however, a great number of sunscreen products can do more harm than good. Some contain toxic chemicals that penetrate the skin, and can actually Increase the risk of Cancer.
Chemicals such as : PABA, Dioxybenzone, Oxybenzone, and Titanium Dioxide, should be avoided. Another problem with coating the skin with sunscreen is that it can block the body's ability to produce Vitamin D which is a positive side sunlight exposure.
Vitamin D is required for strong bones, effective calcium absorption, proper cell growth, and maintaining a healthy heart. A strong association has been established between high levels of vitamin D in the blood and a decreased risk of developing many forms of cancer.
This doesn’t mean unlimited sun exposure is good – it’s still important to protect your skin from burning.
Free Radical Generators and Gender-Bending Estrogenic Chemicals
For many years, profit orientated irresponsible cosmetic companies and a small number of dermatologists have advocated that chemical sunscreens should be heavily applied before any exposure to sunlight, even on young children. They insisted that such sunscreen use would prevent skin cancer and protect health. This was despite of a lack of any adequate safety testing of these chemicals. (It should be noted, that most dermatologists are much more cautious and careful.
-----
On the other hand, many scientists studying cancer have come to virtually the opposite conclusion.
The use of sunscreen chemicals may be increasing the incidence of cancer and that moderate sunlight exposure may actually decrease human cancer rates and improve your health.
So what's the truth?
Here are some common sense tips
Stay out of the sun when it is the most intense, it is estimated that (depending where you live) that this is the period between 10:00 am. & 2:00 pm
Use a hat or shade and clothing to protect yourself if you are outside for long periods or when sun is intense.
Help your body protect itself, eat more fresh vegetables and berries, this will increase your antioxidant levels which helps with skin protection, naturally.
Supplementing with a high quality, Antioxidant combination formula will also give added protection, not only from the risk of developing skin cancer, but many other forms as well.
Vitamin C studies have shown that it offers protection from UVA radiation. Take a vitamin C complex product that contains bio-flavonoids and is additive-free.
Grape Seed & Pine Bark Extract are also powerful Antioxidants, which could be more effective in keeping free radicals (unstable molecules) in check these are compounds that are created from over-exposure to UV radiation and other forms of pollution

Apparently heavily-used chemical sunscreens could actually increase cancers, this because of their free radical generating properties. More insidiously, many widely used sunscreen chemicals have strong estrogenic actions that could cause serious problems in sexual development and adult sexual function, and further increase the risk of Cancer developing.
1 - They are powerful free radical generators. Their free radical generation increases cellular damage and changes that lead to cancer.
2 - They often have strong estrogenic activity. Estrogenic - "Gender Bending" - chemicals interfere with normal sexual development - Engendering a host of secondary medical problems.
3 - They are synthetic chemicals that are Alien to the human body and accumulate in body fat stores. The human body is well adapted to de-toxify biologicals that it has been exposed to over tens of millions of years. But often has difficulty in removing new & non-biological compounds such DDT, Dioxin, PCBs, and chemical sunscreens.

Chemical sunscreens include the following compounds used mainly as UVA and UVB blockers:
Dixoybenzone & Oxybenzone (Benzophenones)
Ethyl dihydroxy propyl PAB, Glyceryl PABA, P-aminobenzoic acid, Padimate-O or Octyl dimethyl PABA (PABA & PABA esters)
Cinoxate, Ethylhexyl p-methoxycinnamate, Octocrylene, Octyl ethoxycinnamate (Cinnamates)
Ethylhexyl salicylate, Homosalate, Octyl salicylate (Salicylates)
Digalloyl trioleate
Menthyl anthranilate
Octyl methoxycinnamate
Avobenzone [butyl-methyoxydibenzoylmethane; Parsol 1789] - This is the only chemical sunscreen currently allowed by the European Community. However, its safety is still questionable since it easily penetrates the skin and is a strong free radical generator.
Benzophenone (and similar compounds) is one of the most powerful free radical generators known. Its' used in industrial processes as a free radical generator to initiate chemical reactions. Benzophenone is known to be activated by ultraviolet light energy that breaks benzophenone's double bond to produce two free radical sites. The free radicals then react with other molecules and produce damage to the fats, proteins, and DNA of the cells - the types of damage that produce skin aging and the development of cancer.
